BOWMAN, Emma

Source: King City (Missouri) Chronicle Fri 29 Jan 1915 p 1

WL Bowman of this city received a long distance telephone call Thursday noon of last week, conveying the sad news of the death of his mother, Mrs. Emma Bowman at her home in Leon, Iowa, which occurred only a few moments before.  Her death was very unexpected as she had been complaining but a few short hours and was caused from paralysis.  Deceased was 71 years old; leaves a brother and a sister, three sons and four daughters to mourn the loss of a loving sister and fond and indulgent mother. The funeral was from the Presbyterian Church of Leon Saturday morning of which church she was a member and the burial was in the city cemetery at Davis City, Iowa. Before the death of her husband and her little son, Roy, the family lived a year or so in King City and doubtless many friends here will be sorry to learn of her death.  She was born near Greencastle, Indiana in 1843, came with her parents to Monroe County, Iowa the day the state was admitted to the union in 1846.  She was married to Samuel Bowman in 1866 and came to Decatur County, Iowa where with the exception of the time spent in King City, she lived her remaining days. She was the mother of 8 children 7 living were in attendance at the funeral and burial services.
